Science is now coming back to Ayurveda
The new research is reiterating what Ayurveda has been preaching since thousands of years.
Eat freshly cooked foods: The modern Ayurveda version is- don’t eat processed foods. According to scientists at the Francis Crick Institute in London, diets high in processed food could be causing an increase in the number of people developing over 100 types of autoimmune diseases around the world. The DNA research conducted points that due to such foods, our immune systems can no longer tell the difference between healthy cells and an attacking virus or bacterium.
Oil is the magic pill: Ayurveda advises oil (black sesame oil) in many of its therapies, with or without herbal infusions. After looking at the diets of about 90,000 health workers over almost 30 years, researchers from Harvard University found that consuming just a teaspoon of olive oil daily was associated with a 12 per cent reduced risk of death from all causes compared with those who rarely or never consumed olive oil and that olive oil ‘reduces risk of fatal heart disease by nearly a fifth’. Being Indian origin, Ayurveda might not had access to olive oil in ancient times. However, the research shows importance of `having a teaspoon of (oilve) oil in diet can offer significant health benefits.
Eat clean, easy to digest foods: Ayurveda emphasizes on having foods light on your gut, easy for digestion like vegetables and select grains and lentils (not all). Just having such foods for 10 days produced remarkable health benefits like high energy, less fatigue, more clarity and loosing unwanted pounds. Increasing call is coming to reduce intake of bread, pasta like foods to shed those extra pounds.
Welcome modern science- good to have such new research support this ancient health science.
